James Cappabianca
SENIOR FUNDRAISING STRATEGIST
James is an experienced fundraiser with over a decade of nonprofit experience. In addition to his work with DMD, James is the Director of Major Gifts at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, NY. He was previously Vice President for Advancement at both Loyola School and America Media, a multi-platform media organization sponsored by the Jesuits. In these roles, James led all fundraising initiatives, including strategic planning, annual fund and capital campaigns, principal and major gifts, planned giving, departmental audits, event planning, and prospect research.
James also served as Associate Director of Advancement for St. Patrick’s Cathedral and spent a good portion of his career at his alma mater, Xavier High School in New York City. After beginning his career in education as a Theology Teacher and Coach, James advanced to Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Alumni Relations before being named Special Assistant to the President and Executive Vice President at Xavier, where he successfully facilitated their Fernandez-Duminuco Hall expansion project.
James graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, including a year abroad playing varsity basketball at Trinity College Dublin, and later received a Master’s degree in Catholic School Leadership and Administration from Fordham University. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Ignatian Solidarity Network, a national social justice organization, and serves as a non-Trustee member of Xavier’s Advancement Committee.
James pours his heart into fundraising for mission-driven organizations, with a particular passion for those transforming lives through education. He resides in Morris Plains, NJ, with his wife and their two sons. He’s also a huge sports fan–go Knicks, go Yankees!
